As you might be able to tell from the name, Wistful Sound Gazers, aka singer-songwriter and producer Ron Christopher, approaches music-making in a way that you just cannot pin to one style.The genre-busting journeyman has just released the long awaited single ‘Gonna Get To You’ and it’s sure to cement his reputation as one of indie music’s more ambitious, enigmatic artists. Philadelphia-born, Ron draws upon his appreciation of country music this go around, and the latest effort is steeped in the tradition of that most emotive of styles.

“By the time a country song is over, you’re either happy or sad, laughing or crying,” he says about his latest contribution, “That’s the way this song was for me - from the heart.” But there’s so much more to ‘Gonna Get To You’ than great lyrics, sung from the heart; there are elements of funk, soul and jazz, all harmoniously strung together by a musician and writer mastering his element. It’s a hard hitting song, both musically and lyrically and it showcases the talents of this artist in a bold way.

Classically trained, Ron began composing songs while performing in church choirs and school bands growing up, but an admitted “late bloomer”, he didn’t began to take his talent seriously until after college. By then, he had found his voice. Having worked as a studio vocalist and producer, he launched himself as Wistful Sound Gazers at the turn of the millennium.

His song ‘Push’, garnered nearly a million downloads. Ron continued producing and developed his sound yet further before releasing the brilliant Tommy James-Shondells cover ‘Crimson & Clover’ in 2008. Now, following last winter’s ethereal Christmas offering ‘Lite Up The Tree’, Ron is ready to give his aspirations full reign. ‘Gonna Get To You’ promises to be the first of a rush of future releases.
