Feisty Piranhas Rise Again With “Live In SoCal;” Headlining “Feisty Fools” Day At Canyon Club in Agoura Hills April 1 & Opening For Blue Oyster Cult At Majestic Ventura Theater April 23

“Since their sophomore, and best known, album Shocked in 2005, Feisty Piranhas have been making a splash (forgive me for the pun) in their local Southern California music scene. The band has earned their share of awards, and have opened for acts such as Blue Oyster Cult and The Misfits, it’s a wonder that they’re not getting nearly as much recognition as deserved.” RIOT ON BROADWAY

(AGOURA HILLS/VENTURA) – Award-winning SoCal rock band Feisty Piranhas Spring into the busy Concert Season full-on with two big April shows: Headlining “Feisty Fool’s Day” at the renowned Canyon Club, 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills, Thursday, April 1, 7 P.M. All Ages! 7 p.m. Info: (818) 879-5016 or log onto http://www.canyonclub.net. Email studio@thefeistypiranhas.com for free tickets! Also performing: Tantalus Muse, Shadows of Aries, and Acidic; and opening for the third consecutive year for seminal rockers Blue Oyster Cult at the Majestic Ventura Theater, 26 S. Chesnut St., Ventura, Friday, April 23. 8 p.m. $27.50. Info: (805) 658-2139 or log onto http://www.venturatheater.net.
The frenetic, energetic power-pop-punk band recently took part in one of the Spring’s major concert events, performing as part of Skinnie Magazine’s “Top 100 Bands” Festival on the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach. 2009 was a watershed year for the unique “father-and-son” band (drummer Peter Lust is the father of front person Peter Alex Lust), starting with guitarist Lust Jr. being pulled onstage by seminal punk band NoFX to perform the song “Linoleum” at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood and resoundingly winning over the raucous crowd; and ending with the band again being selected a “Hot 100 Unsigned Artist for 2009” by longtime respected trade publication, MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE. In between, they opened for Nations Afire at The Whiskey; opened for rock royalty the Blue Oyster Cult for the second consecutive year at the Canyon Club, where they also headlined; were interviewed by “Focus In The Mix” television show; released a new CD, “Live In SoCal;”perfomed with alt-rock front-runners Death By Stereo and A Static Lullaby in Long Beach; appeared with Korn at KROQ’s “Halos N’ Horns” Festival; opened for longtime rock gods, The Misfits, a third consecutive year, as well as the power/metal mainstays DragonForce, both at the fabled Ventura Theater; and were submitted for consideration for a Grammy nomination in eleven separate categories into the 52nd Grammys, the band’s fifth consecutive year receiving such an honor.
Reviews of the Live In SoCal have been favorable. “A killer pop/punky bunch of guys from Southern California who have really great catchy punching memorable songs,” writes U.K. magazine METALLIVILLE. “They’ll definitely grow on you as they did me…”Godfather is an excellent political number with some funky ska moments…they’ll have you hooked for sure.” RIOT ON BROADWAY raves, “Live In SoCal is an example of the amount of talent the Feisty Piranhas possess on stage, and not just in studio… you get a touch of the band’s hip-hop side in “24,” which has a rapped verse over a nicely dirty, although dark, guitar backing, with a much more punk chorus and second chorus. You also get a touch of the band’s softer side in tracks like “A Better Day” and “Alone,” although the latter features a touch of what might sound to some like a little bit of ska punk. The first song that literally blew me away was “Do You Know.” From the opening chords, to the later solo work (which, even I’ll admit, is incredible), to the overall style of the song, I could’ve sworn it could’ve been by the likes of the Bad Religion. Which is by all means a compliment. The Feisty Piranhas are, without a doubt, deserving of every award they’ve received. From the ability to sound as good live as in studio, to the commendable amount of chemistry this band has, not least of which is because of the father-son involvement. In any case, this is an excellent release for anyone who appreciates this type of music. Perfect for anyone who wants to experience this band in any way. Really good stuff here.”

Video Of New Grumpy Song “Lie Da Die” Now Available On YouTube; Recorded At Alibi In Cameron Park, Scheduled For Spring 2011 Release; Guitarist Cameron Carbrey Scores Trailer To Upcoming Film, “MY LIFE IN TRIPLICATE”
“Great musicianship….Guitar solos carry the album through without overpowering Cameron’s vocals – a pleasing marriage of Alice in Chains’ Layne Stanley and Tool’s Maynard James Keenan… the songs here should please mainstream hard rockers… The Grumpy’s balanced blend of southern rock and metal rock could see the band opening for Nickelback or Ozzfest in 2010.” SACRAMENTO ROCK MUSIC EXAMINER
“Lie Da Die” will be included on the follow-up to THROES OF CONTEMPLATION and is set for a Spring 2011 release.
The band received two nominations – “Rock Album Of The Year” and “Rock Single Of The Year” (for ‘Change’) – at the 19th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards last November. They also won “Best Independent CD” at the 2009 Annual South Bay (Los Angeles.) Music Awards last April and were a “Hot 100 Band For 2009” selection by MUSIC CONNECTION magazine, the second year in a row they were so honored.
Fans of The Grumpy can now watch a recent two-part interview with the band conducted by YOUR MUSIC MAGAZINE by logging onto http://www.yourmagazine.com.
Grumpy music can now also be purchased via downloads on the popular sites ITunes, Rhapsody, and Napster by logging onto http://www.thegrumpy.com and clicking on the “Store” page. Coming soon: Grumpy jewelry, including earrings and necklaces.

Reviews for THROES OF CONTEMPLATION have been positive since its release. The SACRAMENTO NEWS AND REVIEW wrote, “I’ve just tasted American Rock, and The Grumpy has a good recipe: Take rock instruments, put them into real musicians’ hands, add soothing male vocals and shake the whole thing up with some beats…Caution: This will contaminate even the most skeptic rockers.” L.A.’s ALL ACCESS MAGAZINE raves, “Great lyrics and musicianship..loved the guitar riffs in the last song titled “Misunderstood” – my fav. Just as I thought it was over, turns out they saved the best for last. Yes indeed, this Sacramento-based band did pleasantly knock my socks off. If this is a taste of what’s more to come, then bring it on….I was completely blown away by The Grumpy!” THROES OF CONTEMPLATION was recently added to the play list at KSSU-FM (Sacramento State University).
Formed in 2000, The Grumpy are fronted by multi-instrumentalist/composer Cameron Carbrey (guitars/vocals), with the rhythm section filled out by J. W. Brooks on percussion and Justin on bass. The Grumpy’s sound has been compared to such acts as Rush, Nickelback, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, and Pink Floyd, along with a host of others, while still maintaining a sound all their own.
In 2006 The Grumpy began playing some of L.A.’s most notable clubs – among them, the world famous Whisky A Go-Go, The Roxy, and The Viper Room, all located on the celebrated Sunset Strip. These are the same stages where bands such as The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen have performed, along with countless other legends. As a result of these performances, The Grumpy received a “Rock Band of the Year” nomination for the South Bay Music Awards that year. Immediately following their return to Sacramento, The Grumpy was selected as KRXQ 98 Rock’s ”February Artist of the Month ” for both their fresh sound and work with the UC Davis Children’s Hospital fundraiser. The band has been on a steady ascent ever since, culminating with their “Independent D of the Year” win at the South Bay Music Awards in 2009.
The Grumpy has performed with national acts such as Stephen Percy (Ratt), Frank Hannon (Tesla), and The Hollywood All-Stars (members of Dio, Bonham, Quiet Riot, and Dokken). Currently, The Grumpy endorses Mesa-Boogie Amplifiers and Minarik Guitars, helping shape the inspiring sound of this group.
Indeed, The Grumpy is well on their way to realizing their life’s dream.

Santa Barbara-based guitarist Alastair Greene has just been announced as the new full-time guitarist for the Alan Parsons Live Project. Greene is receiving great reviews for his just-released CD, WALKING IN CIRCLES. “You will be hard-pressed to find another young guitarist whose work demonstrates a better example of both from where the blues has come as well as to where it may be headed,” raves BLUESROCKERS. “Alastair Greene and his band aim to please as they dish out a swingin’ session of five feel-good covers and six originals…Greene sings with spirit and tells it like it is while his electric guitar adds a stimulating sizzle that punctuates hard,” writes SOUTHLAND BLUES. “Walking In Circles is anything but a rehashing of the longtime S.B. stalwart’s multifaceted musical past,” states the SANTA BARBARA INDEPENDENT.
Since his 2002 debut CD A LITTLE WISER, Alastair Greene (known as ‘AG’ by friends and fans) has released two live CDs and a collaboration with French blues guitar hero Frank ‘Paris Slim’ Goldwasser on Riatsala Music. MOVIN’ ON (MyRecordLabel.net) has received critical acclaim and in part, earned Carey a “Hot 100 Unsigned Artist For 2009” selection by respected international trade publication, MUSIC CONNECTION Magazine. Carey is currently being looked at by various companies for endorsement deals – among these, a major retail clothing company for use of her catchy tune, “Out With The Girls.” A U.S. Tour is in the works for 2010 as well.

Carey performed at four different showcases during the 2009 IndiegrrlWomen In The Arts Conference in Nashville. “Singer/songwriter Eileen Carey has emerged over the last few years as a both an accomplished storyteller and effective, appealing stylist,” writes Ron Wynn in NASHVILLE CITY PAPER “That Was Her, This Is Now” and “Hearts Of Time” from Carey’s previous CD of the same name are still receiving airplay on San Diego’s New Country 95.7 as well as other Country and AAA stations nationwide. The bi-coastal Carey (who divides her time professionally between Nashville and Los Angeles) contributes the song “Faith” from MOVIN’ ON to the just-released ROCKIN’ MOMS VOLUME 2 compilation. Carey – who just created a female networking site, http://www.themusicmom.com — is proud to be affiliated with Rockin’ Moms, whose mission is “to promote, provide resources, and acknowledge the work of mothers…since 2004, the online community and website has grown to serve members from all over the world.” “California vocalist Eileen Carey deftly mixes pop and country influences on her new CD, inserting in her leads a clarity and edge that’s both refreshing and insightful,” writes NASHVILLE CITY PAPER. “Carey’s approach and style on “Do I Dare” and “What Goes Around” shows that’s she’s able to extend her idiomatic range but still reflect the story-telling acumen and authority necessary to ensure country credibility.” NASHVILLE COUNTRY CLUB opines, “Eileen Carey has come a long ways in her maturity as a vocalist…true to her song-title ’That Was Then This Is Now’, the tune metaphorically gives her a re-introduction into her music. The production on her album also has given her a chance to focus on her ability as a singer as well as an original artist.” MUSIC NEWS NASHVILLE writes, “Carey has done well with her cover of Keith Urban’s ”That Was Her, This Is Now,” as well as the moving ”Stand,” which might very well be the best cut on the album. If you like your Country with a little bit of an ‘80s flair, you might like this”! ALL ACCESS MAGAZINE writes, “On Eileen Carey’s new single “That Was Her This Is Now” the country singer from Southern California uses her Nashville native, easy-flowing twang to tell the universal country-themed song of being the new woman in a man’s life; when he was mistreated, to great effect…it is the poetry of the lyrics that country fans and non-fans can relate to, even many males since they have also tried to gain a women’s trust after their hearts been shattered. Carey’s voice is warm, welcoming and full of heart…even for non-country fans, you may find yourself falling for the red head with the catchy tunes and endearing voice.”
Carey briefly describes each of the songs on MOVIN’ ON. “That Was Her This Is Now” is “about being the new woman in a man’s life;’ “What Goes Around” opines that “what you put out (in the Universe) comes back to you;” “Moving On” (the title track) talks about “when relationships, passion, and communication have run their course, it’s time to move on;” “Stand” is about “never giving up on your dreams;” “Do I Dare” discusses “taking the next step in life;” “He’s Not Mr. Right, He’s Mr. Right Now” is “just having fun in your present relationship…with no ties.” “Out With The Girls” finds Carey singing that “girls – poor, young, rich, and old – all need a night out on the town!;’ “Faith” details “being in the wrong relationship and you don’t know it…you’ve gotta have a little faith in yourself.” “Newsflash” ends the disc on a positive note: “when you think things are bad, life can turn on a dime…don’t ever give up!”
“Carey’s music is reminiscent of the Stones tapping into country with a female Jagger,” wrote Doug Deringer in respected national trade magazine, MUSIC CONNECTION, during a review of Carey’s August 2008 show at The Derby in Hollywood. “Her vocal style is a bit Reba McIntire with a touch of Bonnie Raitt thrown in…Carey delivers very solid vocals; she and her band play well together,” the review continues, “and they have a tight, cohesive feel that can only come from experienced and well-rehearsed players…Carey’s material is strong enough to find a wide audience in the country/pop market…this album could take her music to the next level.” Brian Lush, Producer and Host of online music magazine ROCKWIRED, says, “I am personally very excited to see this album hit the shelves…!”
