Ivory Serpents & the Starving Tree is indeed a decidedly dark step forward, uncovering a rich tapestry of lyrics and melodies, as Charlie says, it's a bit "Gnarled voices, Methedrine cowboys with junk smiles.

Groovetronics CD Review

July 17, 2008 – 6:52 pm
Groovetronics  is an album comprised of many artist, and because of this, each track sounds completely differnent that the last. Groovetonics album Volume 2 is very unique in the sense that there is a great variety of music in one album. Take for instance track on "What I Am Running From" has the electronica music sound from the 80's with "Modannaesc" vocals and 80's guitar licks. Moving onto track two you here another vocal artist, male this time, and a little bit of a lighter side singing "Wide Blue Sky". Once you get to track three things completely change with "(What if I Had) The Chance", you get a soulful sound with a bit of an airey interlude. The variety of music continues throughout the album, from the easy low tone of Watching without words to an almost old world sound of the song "Millenia".  Track 8 "Transfixed is very "groovy" where ...

The Oregonian songwriter has played with and written for greats such as Joe Cocker and Jimmy Rogers, and has had no one less than the Everly Brothers record one of his songs, ‘Deliver Me’, in 1967. Now, Moore has his own record label, DJM Records, and in July 2008 he releases his new album, ‘Limited Parking’. He is a talented and engaging performer in his own right. So, why has this chronicler of Americana only produced five albums before in a career spanning nearly five decades? The answer is surely that his talent as a songwriter has kept him working for others. It is a selfless pursuit and one that his given the musical world many of its most ...

French-Iranian composer Ahmad Nadimi’s album Suite for Peace is a whole dissertation on the quest for peace. It is the culmination of a life-long voyage of discovery for this renaissance man that began almost 60 years ago. Nadimi’s first love was the trumpet. He graduated from the Tehran Conservatoire of Music, and his skills on the horn soon led him to the famous Versailles Conservatoire in France under Roger Delmotte. It was here that his amazing talent for all types of music started to flourish. He travelled to various countries including India, Nepal, and Africa. He studied different musical cultures and the relationship between music and man’s internal quest. Nadimi experimented with classical, jazz and contemporary music in a variety of bands before finding his true calling in the music he ...
