you into New Artist Radio.
If you would like to save your promo pack and
CD you can submit your music for review online,
please read the instructions carefully. Improperly
submitted material will not be used.
Accepted
File Formats
Below is a list of accented file formats,
sending files other than what are listed will
get your submission terminated.
- Music:
.mp3 or .wma files only at 128kbs
or larger.
- CD
Cover: .jpg, gif, .png and .bmp at
150 X 150 pixels or larger.
- Documents:
.txt, .doc, .pdf, and .html please include
your bio and website url.
- Compressed
Files: .zip and .rar only.
Music
Format:
You can use a program like iTunes
or Musicmatch
to rip your cd to .mp3 or .wma
format. It is very important that you
fill in the tags with your info and name of
the song so I know what to call it. The proper
way to name a file would be Band_Name-Song
Name.mp3, if you want me to review
the songs in a certain order you would need
to simply number them in that order 01Band_Name-Song
Name.mp3. Sending
music with no info will get it terminated from
the review process.
CD
Cover Format:
What I need is a good scan of your CD cover,
you can include the inside and back and a photo
of your band if you want to, this would give
me more information about your cd but is not
required. I will be using the cover in about
a 150 X 150 pixel size but you can send it larger
if you would like I will crop and size it for
you. Not sending a CD
cover will get you terminated from the review
process.
Document
Format:
You will need to include a biography of your
band and music, this is a good place to give
me information on your music and a link to your
websites. If you are selling your cd on the
web someplace please give me a link to where
people can buy your cd. Put any information
that you want into the doc, please just give
me enough so that I have something to work with.
Not sending a biography
will get you terminated from the review process.
Compressed
Format:
 Windows
XP has a Compressed (zip) Folder
program built in. To use this simply Right
Click on the folder that you want to
compress and Send To - Compressed (zip)
Folder. You may get a message box asking
you if you want to use this program to zip this
folder, Click Yes to zip the
file. The folder will be Compressed and placed
in the same directory as the folder. It will
be named the same as the folder but with a .zip
extension. If you are not on XP then you will
need to get a Program like Winzip
or Winrar
to compress your folder and files.
Making
Your Review EPK
 Somewhere
on your pc you will need to Create A
Folder, I will use your desktop as
an example. Right Click on
your desktop and choose New - Folder
to make a folder on your desktop. Name this
folder the Name Of Your Band and
place all the required files in this folder,
music, cd cover, photos, doc, and anything else
you think I might like. Then Right Click
on the folder and Send To - Compressed
(zip) Folder. On your desktop you will
now have a file called Name Of Your
Band.zip, this is the file you are
going to send to me.
How
To Send Your EPK For Review
Do not email this file, the size of it will
not pass through the email! I do not accept
files in my email, any files sent to me this
way will be deleted! We will use YouSendIt a
simple yet powerful online file delivery website
to get your file to me.
 Go
to http://www.yousendit.com
Step
1 - Recipient email address: reviews@newartistradio.net
Step 2 - Select file: browse
for the file Name Of Your Band.zip
Step 3 - Send It: Click send
it and give the file time to upload.
We
will both get an email with a link to download
your EPK from YouSendIt, again please do not
send files directly to my email!

Music isn't as simple as what your see is what
you get, you need to get more personal when
reviewing someone's work! The best idea I have
come up with to accomplish this task is to mix
the music with my first love MTB. Don't get
confused here I'm into pain but not the kind
that you are thinking right now! MTB stands
for mountain biking and this is my first love
next to music. So I load the music I'm going
to review on my ipod and grab my stumpy (Stumpjumper)
and I'm off for some cranking and tunes. When
it's just me the music and the trail, that's
when things tend to get very clear, good music
makes things seem so much better!
Now
that you know the crazy way I do my reviews,
how about a little info on me. Dark is my nickname
but my real name is Bill Messick, I'm a 40 year
old male from Salt Lake City. I have been in
music and radio for about 8 years now, I got
my start in radio doing websites and music programming
for my own pirate internet radio station called
Hacker Rock. I have done hundreds of bands websites
over the years and I'm currently the main music
& web programmer for New Artist Radio &
